About Katie Score, LMFT

My practice is guided by the belief that trauma affects both the mind and the nervous system. Healing requires more than simply talking about difficult experiences—it involves understanding how those experiences live within us while creating new patterns of safety, connection, and resilience. I am committed to walking alongside my clients with warmth, authenticity, and respect as they work toward healing, growth, and lasting change.

I especially enjoy working with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences. I am EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) trained and believe therapy should be collaborative, practical, and tailored to each individual’s goals.

I grew up in the Midwest, attended the smallest high school imaginable, and eventually moved to the Twin Cities to pursue my master’s degree with one goal in mind: helping people heal and build lives they genuinely enjoy living.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult while trying to balance graduate school and full-time work. That experience gave me a deeper understanding of how easily people can internalize feelings of shame, self-doubt, or “not being enough.” It also strengthened my passion for helping others better understand themselves with compassion rather than criticism.

As a therapist, I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, accepted, and supported. I believe healing begins within authentic relationships, and I work hard to provide an environment where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment.

My approach is trauma-informed, systemic, and grounded in the understanding that our past experiences, relationships, family dynamics, and environments shape how we see ourselves and navigate the world. I don’t believe people are broken. Instead, I help clients understand the patterns that have developed over time, recognize what may no longer be serving them, and build healthier, more fulfilling ways of moving forward.

I tend to be direct, down-to-earth, and authentic in my work. I care deeply about my clients and believe that meaningful growth often comes from a combination of compassion, honesty, curiosity, and, when appropriate, a little humor. I may gently challenge you to increase self-awareness and move toward the life you want, while always respecting your pace and your story. And yes, if a few well-placed four-letter words help express what you’re feeling, there’s room for those too.
