Dr. Deenah Farrell is a psychiatrist who works with children, adolescents, and adults, providing psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy. She believes that meaningful psychiatric care begins with understanding the whole person, including their experiences, relationships, and the circumstances that shape their lives.
Her approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and individualized. She integrates evidence-based psychiatric treatment with psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspectives, taking an interest not only in symptoms but also in the emotional and relational patterns that can contribute to difficulties over time. She values building trusting therapeutic relationships and strives to provide culturally responsive, LGBTQ+-affirming care that respects each person’s identity, background, and lived experience.
Dr. Farrell’s clinical interests include anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma, identity development, and interpersonal difficulties. She has a particular interest in the emotional and developmental experiences of adolescence and young adulthood.
Dr. Farrell earned her medical degree from Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and completed her general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. She has additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and is a psychoanalytic candidate at the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California (PINC).
