About Emma Bjorgaard, LGSW

Emma works with individuals ages 8 and up, including Latinx immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and neurodivergent individuals. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and offers clients the option of having her therapy dog, Harley, join sessions.

Emma takes an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities to best meet each client’s unique needs. Emma believes that therapy should be a collaborative experience between the therapist and the client. She works with the knowledge that the most significant driver of change and healing is the relationship you establish with your therapist.

Emma fosters authentic relationships with clients through humor and humility. She works to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves while exploring challenges and working toward their goals. Emma also recognizes the power of knowledge and utilizes it to empower clients whenever possible and appropriate.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys attending sporting events, visiting the dog park with her dog, thrifting, getting tattoos, watching movies and TV shows, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She is also passionate about social justice and advocacy and enjoys finding ways to incorporate these values into both her personal and professional life.

Harley is a compassionate therapy dog who believes that everyone deserves to feel welcomed, supported, and accepted. She is good with clients of all ages and backgrounds and is always happy to meet someone exactly where they are.

Harley takes an eclectic, client-centered approach to her work and has a wide range of therapeutic modalities in her toolbox, including cuddles, tail wags, being goofy, hugs, gentle companionship, and resting nearby. She believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so she adjusts her interventions based on what each client needs that day. She has an open-door policy and welcomes pets from passersby.

Outside of work, Harley enjoys spending time at the dog park, napping, visiting friends and family, and keeping a close eye on the house to make sure no squirrels are getting into any trouble. She also enjoys volunteering as a therapy dog, where she gets to spread a little extra comfort and happiness throughout the community.
